TERRA VITE VINEYARD TASTING 28 AUG 2022

Continuing on our expedition for the end of August and after gorging ourselves at the Sparkling Pointe Lobster Roll Event, we rolled on to Raphael Vineyards for a quick pick-up, followed by a stop at Verra Vite Vineyard, expecting to do a quick pick-up.  Well, due to a misreading on my part of an E-Mail, the fall pick-up was not quite ready.  However, rather than let a good winery stop go to waste, we opted to do a tasting which quickly turned into a bottle.  Terra Vite is a beautiful, inviting place with a modest but well-appointed tasting room and outdoor seating (Fig 01,02).    The wine we selected was a 2021 Sauvignon Blanc (Fig 03) which was a wise choice.  It is a clean, crisp wine with pleasing notes of grapefruit and a hint of peach.  We will be returning in a few weeks to pick up our fall club selection and, of course, add on a few bottles of the 2021 Sauvignon Blanc.

  Another day, another fine wine.  Today’s wine came from a friend who has a friend Chris Miller the winemaker at Seabold Cellars .   Chris is also currently involved at Adroit , a winery exploring California’s underutilized wine-growing regions.   The wine for today is an Adroit Wines 2021 Trousseau Stiletto Estate (Fig 01).   Today’s tasting is the first time encountering the Trousseau Grape , an ancient grape from eastern France.  Trousseau is primarily blended in other wines and ports, but here in California the is experimental work being done to use the grape for table wine.  The Trousseau leads with rich dark cherry and rich fruit but with just enough tannins to provide a clean, dry finish.  The Trousseau proved to be the most enjoyable, easy-drinking wine, leaving me looking to acquire many more bottles.  #california #seaboldcellars #adroit #stilettoestate FIG 01 - ADROIT 2021 TROUSSEAU SILETTO ESTATE 17 SEPT 2022

ROANOKE VINEYARDS 2019 GABBY’s CABERNET FRANC 18 SEPT 2022

  A few weeks ago, the 2022 futures wines were picked up, which included a three-pack of Roanoke Vineyards Gabby’s Cabernet Franc 2020.  Given that the three-pack is a 2020 vintage, one might wonder why the bottle we opened is a 2019 Gabby (Fig 01), the exact reason remains a bit of a mystery, but one can assume it was a simple mix-up (Fig 02).  The mix-up, notwithstanding the 2019 Gabby, is a fine wine that presented a bright red color with a bramble nose.  The palate is smooth fruit forward, predominantly dark cherry, bright acid, and smooth tannins.  The Gabby is a fine example of a Long Island Cabernet Franc and should be a good indicator of the 2020 Gabby soon to be opened.  #longislandwineries #vineyardviews #wineryvibes #liwine #licharacter #longislandwine #northforkwineries #longislandwinery #longislandnorthfork #northforker #discoverlongisland #topwineries #northforkwinetrail #liwinecountry #liwine #lisustainablewinegrowers #nywinegrapefdn #nofo #roanokevineyards   FIG 01 -

WOLFFER ESTATE VINEYARD FALL CLUB 16 SEPT 2022
