UPCOMING EVENT AT SPARKLING POINT 28 AUG 2022

Sparkling Pointe has announced its upcoming event for the rest of the summer and the fall.  Two events remain in August (Fig 01), one in September and the last in October (Fig 02).  The events start with a classic Sparkling Wine and Cheese pairing (Sun 21 AUG 2022) followed by a Lobster Roll event (Sun 28 AUG 2022), a Vintners Harvest Dinner (Sun 18 Sept 2022), and far from last, a Local Oyster Showcase (Sun 02 Oct 2022).  It all looks to be a fantastic day at the winery.  We just scored five tickets to the upcoming North Fork Lobster Roll & Potato Chip Wine Pairing event in a few weeks.  The event starts with something different, a trio of sparkling wines paired with three different North Fork Potato Chips.  The Sparkling & Chips is followed by a Lobster roll from Barrows Food House paired with the Sparkling Pointe Topaz Impérial Brut Rosé.  One additional option is to add Pearl Street Ossetra Caviar to round out the tasting experience.  Reservations for the Lobster roll event and all the other events are available on RESY.   We hope to see everyone at one of these events.

  Another day, another fine wine.  Today’s wine came from a friend who has a friend Chris Miller the winemaker at Seabold Cellars .   Chris is also currently involved at Adroit , a winery exploring California’s underutilized wine-growing regions.   The wine for today is an Adroit Wines 2021 Trousseau Stiletto Estate (Fig 01).   Today’s tasting is the first time encountering the Trousseau Grape , an ancient grape from eastern France.  Trousseau is primarily blended in other wines and ports, but here in California the is experimental work being done to use the grape for table wine.  The Trousseau leads with rich dark cherry and rich fruit but with just enough tannins to provide a clean, dry finish.  The Trousseau proved to be the most enjoyable, easy-drinking wine, leaving me looking to acquire many more bottles.  #california #seaboldcellars #adroit #stilettoestate FIG 01 - ADROIT 2021 TROUSSEAU SILETTO ESTATE 17 SEPT 2022

ROANOKE VINEYARDS 2019 GABBY’s CABERNET FRANC 18 SEPT 2022

  A few weeks ago, the 2022 futures wines were picked up, which included a three-pack of Roanoke Vineyards Gabby’s Cabernet Franc 2020.  Given that the three-pack is a 2020 vintage, one might wonder why the bottle we opened is a 2019 Gabby (Fig 01), the exact reason remains a bit of a mystery, but one can assume it was a simple mix-up (Fig 02).  The mix-up, notwithstanding the 2019 Gabby, is a fine wine that presented a bright red color with a bramble nose.  The palate is smooth fruit forward, predominantly dark cherry, bright acid, and smooth tannins.  The Gabby is a fine example of a Long Island Cabernet Franc and should be a good indicator of the 2020 Gabby soon to be opened.  #longislandwineries #vineyardviews #wineryvibes #liwine #licharacter #longislandwine #northforkwineries #longislandwinery #longislandnorthfork #northforker #discoverlongisland #topwineries #northforkwinetrail #liwinecountry #liwine #lisustainablewinegrowers #nywinegrapefdn #nofo #roanokevineyards   FIG 01 -

WOLFFER ESTATE VINEYARD FALL CLUB 16 SEPT 2022
