DAIQUIRI DECK ANNA MARIA ISLAND, FLORIDA 15 APR 2022

We were in Anna Marie Island, Florida for a wedding and strolling about the town when we came across the Daiquiri Deck in a random stroke of serendipitous good luck.  The expansive deck is on the second floor with a relaxing view of the main drag and the beach beyond.  The team members were all bright, cheery, and attentive.  We ordered a Rum Runner and a Mango Rita along with a “toot”, a test tube filled with a shot of 150+ to add a kick to the drinks.  While not looking for a food place, we could not resist all the options, so we added several selections to the drinks.  It started with the local Apalachicola oysters, followed by a Caesar salad and buffalo chicken wings, and all were fantastic.  Next is an Anna Marie platter that included Calamari Rings, Grouper Fingers, and Gator bites.  All of this was followed by one more round of drinks, so we were adequately pre-gamed for the fantastic fun beach wedding that followed a bit later in the day.  Next time we are back on Anna Marie Island, we will be sure to revisit and explore even more of the Daiquiri menu.

  Another day, another fine wine.  Today’s wine came from a friend who has a friend Chris Miller the winemaker at Seabold Cellars .   Chris is also currently involved at Adroit , a winery exploring California’s underutilized wine-growing regions.   The wine for today is an Adroit Wines 2021 Trousseau Stiletto Estate (Fig 01).   Today’s tasting is the first time encountering the Trousseau Grape , an ancient grape from eastern France.  Trousseau is primarily blended in other wines and ports, but here in California the is experimental work being done to use the grape for table wine.  The Trousseau leads with rich dark cherry and rich fruit but with just enough tannins to provide a clean, dry finish.  The Trousseau proved to be the most enjoyable, easy-drinking wine, leaving me looking to acquire many more bottles.  #california #seaboldcellars #adroit #stilettoestate FIG 01 - ADROIT 2021 TROUSSEAU SILETTO ESTATE 17 SEPT 2022

ROANOKE VINEYARDS 2019 GABBY’s CABERNET FRANC 18 SEPT 2022

  A few weeks ago, the 2022 futures wines were picked up, which included a three-pack of Roanoke Vineyards Gabby’s Cabernet Franc 2020.  Given that the three-pack is a 2020 vintage, one might wonder why the bottle we opened is a 2019 Gabby (Fig 01), the exact reason remains a bit of a mystery, but one can assume it was a simple mix-up (Fig 02).  The mix-up, notwithstanding the 2019 Gabby, is a fine wine that presented a bright red color with a bramble nose.  The palate is smooth fruit forward, predominantly dark cherry, bright acid, and smooth tannins.  The Gabby is a fine example of a Long Island Cabernet Franc and should be a good indicator of the 2020 Gabby soon to be opened.  #longislandwineries #vineyardviews #wineryvibes #liwine #licharacter #longislandwine #northforkwineries #longislandwinery #longislandnorthfork #northforker #discoverlongisland #topwineries #northforkwinetrail #liwinecountry #liwine #lisustainablewinegrowers #nywinegrapefdn #nofo #roanokevineyards   FIG 01 -

WOLFFER ESTATE VINEYARD FALL CLUB 16 SEPT 2022
