UNMATCHED FIREPLACE SERVICE

One of the best places to enjoy a fine glass of wine is with good friends by a fireplace.  We have a 6-foot gas fireplace at the end of the den, and about two months ago, it suddenly would only light up the first foot or so.  It had not had routine service since it was installed (3 years ago), so it needed a good cleaning, and I suspected that a spider had spun its web in the burner tube.  Enter Unmatched Fireplace Service to the rescue.  The technician Pat arrived as scheduled and proceeded over the next 3+ hours to completely disassemble the unit with the parts very neatly spread across the den floor.  He then evicted the spider that had taken residence in the gas supply tube, causing the problem.  After that, every part was cleaned, polished, and reinstalled.  The net result is a better than new working fireplace (Figures 1 & 2) to enjoy our wine in front of with friends and family.  Special thanks to Pat and the team at Unmatched for restoring the fireplace to its original performance, and yes, we will now be getting a yearly mid-summer tune-up to keep it at its peak performance.

  Another day, another fine wine.  Today’s wine came from a friend who has a friend Chris Miller the winemaker at Seabold Cellars .   Chris is also currently involved at Adroit , a winery exploring California’s underutilized wine-growing regions.   The wine for today is an Adroit Wines 2021 Trousseau Stiletto Estate (Fig 01).   Today’s tasting is the first time encountering the Trousseau Grape , an ancient grape from eastern France.  Trousseau is primarily blended in other wines and ports, but here in California the is experimental work being done to use the grape for table wine.  The Trousseau leads with rich dark cherry and rich fruit but with just enough tannins to provide a clean, dry finish.  The Trousseau proved to be the most enjoyable, easy-drinking wine, leaving me looking to acquire many more bottles.  #california #seaboldcellars #adroit #stilettoestate FIG 01 - ADROIT 2021 TROUSSEAU SILETTO ESTATE 17 SEPT 2022

ROANOKE VINEYARDS 2019 GABBY’s CABERNET FRANC 18 SEPT 2022

  A few weeks ago, the 2022 futures wines were picked up, which included a three-pack of Roanoke Vineyards Gabby’s Cabernet Franc 2020.  Given that the three-pack is a 2020 vintage, one might wonder why the bottle we opened is a 2019 Gabby (Fig 01), the exact reason remains a bit of a mystery, but one can assume it was a simple mix-up (Fig 02).  The mix-up, notwithstanding the 2019 Gabby, is a fine wine that presented a bright red color with a bramble nose.  The palate is smooth fruit forward, predominantly dark cherry, bright acid, and smooth tannins.  The Gabby is a fine example of a Long Island Cabernet Franc and should be a good indicator of the 2020 Gabby soon to be opened.  #longislandwineries #vineyardviews #wineryvibes #liwine #licharacter #longislandwine #northforkwineries #longislandwinery #longislandnorthfork #northforker #discoverlongisland #topwineries #northforkwinetrail #liwinecountry #liwine #lisustainablewinegrowers #nywinegrapefdn #nofo #roanokevineyards   FIG 01 -

WOLFFER ESTATE VINEYARD FALL CLUB 16 SEPT 2022
