Wine pickup and tasting at Rose Hill, Sannino, Sparkling Pointe, Pellegrini, & Terra Vite 24 June 2021
Today is the second pickup for June. We include a tasting at a new place for us, Rose Hill Vineyards (formally Shinn), and then on to four more drive-by pickups from Sannino Vineyards, Sparkling Pointe, Pellegrini Vineyards, and Terra Vite Vineyards [1]. On this expedition, we were a small group, only three of us including Jo, Carol, and myself. We built-in time for a full tasting and small bites for lunch as we explored Rose Hill and the tasting menu. Rose Hill is a new place for us, and it did not disappoint. The wine, the small bites, and the view were all fabulous as borne out by us taking four bottles (3 – 2020 First Fruit, 1 Rośe 2020) [2] of wine with us. This brief note does not do justice to what a fine place this is, and we will provide a much more detailed review a bit later. The second stop was Sannino, where we picked up five different wines, including a 2020 Bianca white Merlot, 2020 Viognier, a 2020 Sauvignon Blanc, a 2020 Fresco white wine blend, and we added to the club selection a Spiced wine for TJ & Kelly [3]. The third stop was at Sparkling Point for six bottles of sparkling wine. The list included a Carnaval Rośe, a 2016 Séduction Blanc De Noirs, 2018 Topaz Impérial, 2017 Blanc de Blanc, and a Cuvée Carnaval [4]. Fourth for the day was a stop at Pellegrini to pick up a six-pack of wine. The wines included Steak house red, 2007 Petit Verdot, 2013 Encore, 2019 Rose, 2018 Chardonnay, and a 2019 Sauvignon Blanc [5]. Last and far from Least was a stop at Terra Vite (formally Diliberto). The trio of wines included a Terra Vite 2020 Sauvignon Blanc, Terra Vite 2020 Marea, and a Diliberto 2015 Tre [6]. In addition, Terra Vite claimed I did not pick up my April selection of the Diliberto wine, which I did and attempted to correct them a bit, but after all, why argue with good free wine. The April club consisted of a Diliberto 2015 Tre, Diliberto 2015 Merlot, and a Diliberto 2016 Chardonnay, all of which are well worth the revisit [7]. Terra Vite is now fully open with a redone tasting room and many upcoming events. One event of particular interest to me is the weekly return of the Little Ram Oysters, which I look forward to visiting many times this summer. In all twenty-seven bottles in this run to add to the inventory and share with the kids. As we work our way through each bottle Jo, and I will keep you all posted on what we think of each.
